Other names include May lily, May bells, lily constancy, and Muguet (French).  It’s scientific name, majalis means “of or belonging to May”, and old astrological books place the plant under the dominion of Mercury, since Maia, the daughter of Atlas, was the mother of Mercury or Hermes.

Lily of the valley (Convallaria Majalis), the flower for May, means sweetness and the return of happiness and is said to bring luck in love.  Technically, lily of the valley is not a lily at all.  The genus is placed in the family Asparagaceae,  formerly the botanical family Ruscaceae, not the Lilliaceae.  It is possibly the ONLY species in the genus Canvallaria.

I saw them change to butterflies.

A VERY MINI TUTORIAL

The Queen’s Necklace (Le Collier de la Reine) was made into the 2001 film The Affair of the Necklace starring Hilary Swank.  The movie is nothing like the book.
